Lucky You - St Patrick's Day Favorites are Here!

Ready to Sham-Rock & Roll?

St. Patrick's Day is just around the clover - make sure you're prepared with help from Rapids Wholesale.

Turn this holiday into an opportunity to build your own pot of gold - delight and attract customers with clever marketing concepts like green beer, Irish Flag shots, Irish Eggs Benedict, and more!

Start The Shenanigans with Shots!

Get the party started with Irish Flag Shots that incorporate the three colors of the Irish flag: green, orange, and white.

Since the visual attraction of these shots depends on the three colorful layers, a great way to transport enough for a whole table without too much jostling (and therefore the mixing of layers) is with a beer flight. Place your glasses (we recommend the 2-1/2 oz Libbey mini shooters) on the board, then gather the ingredients: Green crème de menthe, Irish cream liqueur, and Grand Marnier orange liqueur.

Using 3/4 oz liquor pourers to ensure accuracy, start with the green layer. Then, slowly pour in the white layer over the back of a bar spoon. Repeat for the orange layer, and these shots are ready to serve!

Green Eggs and Ham Beer

This adult twist on a childhood classic is sure to catch the eye of customers of all ages (over the legal drinking age, of course).

Many beer distributors will make it easy to get green beer, as many customers consider it a holiday staple, but you can also make your own!

One popular method is putting in a few drops of food dye after the beer has been poured. You can also try our method below. All you need is a party pump to pump green dye into the keg along with the air. The best part? Because the system is essentially sealed, there should be no mess!

Watch our how-to video on making your own green beer, but be warned: we have not actually attempted this trick, so it should be undertaken at your own risk!

A St. Patrick's Day Must-Have

Rapids has everything you need to dispense green beer!

The Volition 59" beer dispenser will keep your green beer cold from keg to faucet. Cold air is pushed up from the keg cooler cabinet into the the two beer columns for overall cooling which means reduced foaming with the pour. This dispenser fits two 1/2 barrel kegs and one slim quarter barrel, and includes a heavy duty stainless steel top, black vinyl coated front, sides and back. Comes with a 1-year parts and labor warranty and a 5-year compressor warranty.

If you are keeping with Irish tradition and serving Guinness® (green or not), you will need a Guinness® keg coupler, a stout faucet, and a nitrogen regulator for a superior pour.

We also offer Intertap faucets that have interchangeable nozzles - so if you don't usually need a stout faucet, you don't need to buy a whole new faucet, you can just change out the tip! The forward-sealing Intertap faucet comes with all of the benefits of a regular forward-sealing faucet (preventing stuck faucet handles, exposing less of the internal parts to air) with flow control, and the threaded modular spout allows for you to switch the standard faucet for a nitro beer spout, a growler filler, or a ball lock attachment for connecting to a bottling gun.

While this recipe technically calls for green cheese sauce instead of green eggs (due to the difficulty of dying poached or soft-boiled eggs), the overall effect is still the same, and your customers will love both the look and the taste!

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup cooked corn beef, warmed
  • 1 English muffin, toasted
  • Parsley, for garnishing
  • Cheese sauce
    • 2 tbsp butter
    • 2 tbsp flour
    • 1 cup milk
    • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    • Green food coloring

Instructions

  1. Poach or soft-boil the eggs on a Volition 24" griddle and set aside
  2. Make the cheese sauce: Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium high heat, then whisk in the flour. Whisk in the milk and bring to a simmer. Simmer for about 5 minutes or until it starts to thicken. Stir in the cheese until melted. Add in green food coloring until attractive color is achieved.
  3. Place the toasted English muffin on a plate, then cover with a generous amount of corned beef. Top with the poached egg, then pour cheese sauce over the entire dish. Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.
