What Is a Commercial Meat Grinder?

Commercial meat grinders are appliances used in commercial kitchens to grind, mince, and mix raw or cooked meat as well as fish and vegetables. They do a better and faster job at mincing meat compared to manual options. To use a commercial meat grinder, the food-service staff places the meat into the funnel, which is placed on top of the grinder.

From there, the food goes on a horizontal screw conveyor, which can either be powered by a hand wheel or an electric motor, then mixes and squashes the food. At the end of the screw conveyor, a knife installed directly in front of the fixed-hole plate minces the meat as it comes out of the machine. The fineness of the ground meat will depend largely on the size of the holes in the plate of the professional meat grinder.

Who Will Benefit from a Professional Meat Grinder?

Those running a butcher shop or a meat shop or restaurant owners who want to create their own ground meat or sausages would do well to invest in a good-quality commercial meat grinder. Both a manual and commercial electric meat grinder will do a great job. However, establishments that create of a larger quantity of ground meat will find that a commercial electric meat grinder will do a better and faster job as they come with a pusher feeds the uncut meat, thereby saving more time. Other commercial grade meat grinders even feature sausage tubes or add-ons that help force the ground meat inside a sausage casing.

Manual commercial meat grinders, unlike commercial meat grinder units that are mostly standalone, are required to be mounted to to a tabletop or countertop for safety reasons.
