For this purpose we us an Identification Verification Service from IDology used by other companies like Capital One, American Express, coinbase, Volvo and Ebay.
IDology will match the information you provide to us (typically birthdate, name, etc.) to publicly held records to generate a few questions we might ask you that only you would likely know the answer to. The kind of information that some nefarious actor would not know if they found your wallet on the street or found your card information on the dark web.
Example questions we have seen have been:
- Which hospital is closest to your address at 1234 Main Street?
- What color was your 2017 Honda Accord?
- Which street intersection is closest to your current address?
If the respondent is unable to successfully answer the test questions. Rapids will cancel the order and refund the card to prevent an unauthorized charge to your account. Obviously, if you answer correctly, we will continue processing the order and your account will be whitelisted for all sub sequential orders. If you are uncomfortable providing any of answers through this process, we are happy to provide payment alternatives like utilizing PayPal, EFT, or Check by Mail.
