What Are Beer Dispensers?
If you want to serve draft beer in your bar, it is essential that you have a beer-cooling system for your kegged beer. Proper chilling of kegged beer is important because the serving temperature of draft beer plays a big role in the quality of the brew that will eventually be poured out into your customer's glass or mug. Improperly chilled beer can be extremely foamy or, in some cases, flat. Needless to say, extremely foamy or flat beer is low-quality beer, and this will surely have a huge impact on your bar, tavern, or restaurant.
A draft beer dispenser is a dispensing device that also keeps the beer keg chilled. A big advantage of using a draught beer dispenser is that you can generally store and chill a tapped keg of beer inside a good-quality unit for an extended period, up to two months, and the beer will remain in perfect serving condition, without any change in taste. This is a huge advantage, especially for those bar owners who serve different brands types of beer.
How Do Beer Keg Dispensers Work?
In order to understand how a keg beer dispenser works, it's important to examine its parts: CO2 tank, regulator, coupler, beer and air line, tap, tower, drip tray, faucet, faucet handle.
Basically, a beer-dispensing machine is a combination of a couple of other machines: a refrigerator and a beer keg with a spigot at the top for dispensing.
Some people who own a personal bar at home simply make their own beer dispensing systems by converting an ordinary fridge to be able to accommodate a beer keg and then boring a hole on top of the refrigerator and then attaching a spigot. The problem, though, is that there is no fool-proof do-it-yourself method of converting ordinary refrigerators into a beer draft dispenser, so there is no guarantee that you will be able to serve perfectly chilled beer. This is the reason why most bar and restaurant owners still prefer the more reliable commercial beer dispensers.
The unique thing about a bar beer dispenser is that you don't need to actually open the refrigerator to gain access to the beer. A beer dispenser machine is designed for outside access to the beer spout, which is installed at the top of the refrigerator, placing it at the perfect level for serving beer. Going back to self-converted beer tap dispensers, one problem about boring a hole on top of the refrigerator yourself to thread the pour spout through is that the opening is usually not cleanly drilled, and this can pose a problem because cold can easily escape an improperly sealed hole. This is why a commercial beer dispenser is still your best bet for your bar, tavern, or restaurant's beer-dispensing needs.
