Commercial Popcorn Machines

Popcorn machines of the commercial variety, also commonly known as commercial popcorn poppers, are industrial machines used to pop popcorn. A professional popcorn machine is commonly found in movie houses, carnivals, fairs, and the like.

Commercial popcorn makers are a popular choice for business owners because these machines are designed for easy maintenance. For instance, the kettles used in a commercial popcorn machine are relatively easy to clean, and majority of kettles used in these machines are often lined with non-stick coating, ideal for keeping the kettle sanitary and free of carbon. In the case of a popcorn kettle machine in particular, the kettle usually swings in order to dispense the already-popped popcorn into a holding cabinet where a heated container, usually also made of stainless steel, helps keep the popcorn warm, fresh, and ready to eat.

A Look at the Brief History of the Popcorn Machine

Popcorn as a snack food has been around for quite some time now. In fact, it was first discovered thousands of years ago in Guatemala. However, the modern popcorn machine dates back to the 1880s and was invented by Charles Cretors. Before this, the original method of popping popcorn was to position a wire basket filled with corn kernels over an open flame. However, this method often resulted in a lot of wasted corn because the resulting popcorn was dry, hot, burned, and unevenly cooked.

Cretor’s popcorn machine popped popcorn in a mixture of lard, salt, and oil, and was the first to produce uniformly popped and seasoned popcorn. Popcorn produced through a popcorn maker machine was tastier, had a better consistency, and was a lot better than those produced through the wire-basket method.
