How To Choose the Right Type of Vollrath Cookware | Best Uses for Pots & Pans

While it is possible to do most of your cooking with a small collection of pots and pans (as many of us know so well from our home kitchen setup), it's not the most efficient. And when it comes to keeping your customers happy, efficiency is key.

Vollrath, a foodservice equipment and smallwares manufacturer with a reputation for well-made, long-lasting products, offers a full line of pots and pans to handle all of your cooking responsibilities. We explore some of the most popular selections below.

Vollrath Pots & Pans Collections

There are several different standard styles of Vollrath pots and pans: Wear-Ever®, Tribute®, and Intrigue®.

Wear-Ever® fry pans are made from an aluminum alloy that is both dent- and warp-resistant, while the stock / sauce pots are made from impact-resistant 3004 aluminum.

Tribute® cookware comes with a lifetime warranty and is made with heavy-duty, non-corrosive stainless steel interior and an aluminum exterior for even heating. Not only are these pots and pans top-performers, they are also induction-ready!

The Intrigue® collection is made of heavy-duty stainless steel and comes with the Jacob's Pride Limited Lifetime Warranty. These pans are designed to cook well on any surface - gas, electric, induction - and look good doing it - the mirror finish is timeless. They are also both oven- and dishwasher-safe.

Except for the stock pots, the Wear-Ever® and Tribute® lines come equipped with a TriVent® handle and an EverTite™ riveting system. The ergonomic TriVent® handle won't wear out, maximizes operator comfort, and is rated at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for stove or oven use. The EverTite™ riveting system offers a lifetime warranty against loose rivets.

The Intrigue® handle is hollow and riveted (excluding for the stock pots).

The design of both handle styles reduces stress and heat transfer from pan to handle.

Frying Pans / Skillets

A frying pan is one of the most versatile pieces of cookware. The wide, flat bottom allows for fast, effective heating, and is perfect for everything from omelets to steak.

Vollrath Wear-Ever® Aluminum Frying Pans

Wear-Ever® fry pans have been voted Best in Class for thirteen years running (as of 2021).

These skillets are available with three different finishes: Natural, PowerCoat2™, and SteelCoat x3™.

The natural finish pans are available in 7", 8", 10", 12", and 14" diameter sizes.

For a more abrasion-resistant option, choose the PowerCoat2™ finish. It's a dual-layer, ceramic reinforced coating - and is non-stick to boot! This coating comes in 7", 8", 10"12", and 14" sizes.

The SteelCoat x3™ (choose from 7", 8", 10", 12", and 14") has actual bits of steel incorporated into a triple-layer, non-stick coating. This protects your pan from utensil damage and is incredibly durable.

Vollrath Tribute® Fry Pans

Depending on your cooking needs, you can choose from either a natural (8", 10") or non-stick (8", 10", 12") version of this skillet. The non-stick version uses a CeramiGuard® II coating, which is easy to clean.

Vollrath Intrigue® Frying Pans

Like the Tribute® skillets, this cookware also comes with either a natural (7-9/10", 9-2/5", 11", 12-3/5") or CeramiGuard® II non-stick (7-9/10", 9-2/5", 11", 12-3/5") finish.

vollrath-stir-fry-pans

Stir-Fry Pan

Stir fry pans differ from standard frying pans in that stir fry pans have tall, curved sides to provide better heat distribution for tasks like (you guessed it) stir-frying. They'll speed up the cook time, and allow for easier stirring of larger quantities.

This aluminum 11" non-stick stir-fry pan is designed to stand up to the demands of your commercial kitchen. It is not included in the Vollrath collections discussed above but includes some of their features, including a SteelCoat x3™ coating and a TriVent® handle.

Straight-Sided Sauce Pans

Vollrath Intrigue® straight-sided sauce pans are good for general use applications. From making sauces, boiling eggs, cooking rice, and more, these sturdy pans are a necessity in every kitchen.

They come in sizes of 2-1/2 Qt, 3-1/4 Qt, 4-1/4 Qt, and 7 Qt.

Tapered Sauce Pan

For lower-heat applications or hot-holding, choose a sauce pan with tapered sides. The angled sides make it easier to stir or use a whip, and the smaller bottom diameter reduces heat exposure.

The Wear-Ever® tapered sauce pans come in a number of sizes: 1-1/2 Qt, 2-3/4 Qt, 3-3/4 Qt, 4-1/2 Qt, 5-1/2 Qt, 7 Qt, 8-1/2 Qt, and 10 Qt and have a natural finish. They include a helper handle that makes pouring simpler.

Sauté Pan

Sauté pans are perfect for searing meats, braising, and reducing sauces. They have straight sides and are deeper than a fry pan, which means they can hold more product and are less likely to spill while stirring.

Vollrath Intrigue® sauté pans are available in 6 Qt and 9-1/2 Qt sizes.

Stock Pot

If you are cooking anything that requires a large amount of liquid, a stock pot is the way to go. The tall, straight sides minimize evaporation, instead allowing the liquids to bubble up through the food for maximum flavor.

The standard Vollrath stock pots are made of 18-8 stainless steel and feature an arc-sprayed aluminum bottom for even heat distribution. The stainless steel handles are solid-welded.

Vollrath Wear-Ever® Stock Pots

The Wear-Ever® classic aluminum stock pots spread heat evenly and have double-thick rims for durability. The bottoms are dent-resistant, and the solid-welded handles have a long life-span.

Vollrath Intrigue® Stock Pots

Intrigue® stainless steel stock pots (available in 6-1/2, 12, 18, and 27 Qt sizes) have a double-rim edge and solid-loop welded handles.
