Catch Up on the Ketchup Crisis

COVID-19 has caused yet another shortage: ketchup. At the beginning of the pandemic, ketchup suppliers pivoted to focus more on retail ketchup packaging and sales. Now, as restaurants are reopening, the commercial ketchup supply has not been able to keep up with the demand, particularly where single-serve packets are concerned.

This has led to some enterprising restaurant owners taking matters into their own hands - buying retail ketchup and using it for commercial purposes. To help simplify this process, Rapids has several recommendations for smooth ketchup transitions.

The Ketchup Saver

When there's a shortage, every drop of ketchup is precious. Make sure you transfer all of the ketchup from one condiment container to another with the ketchup bottle coupler. Designed to attach to the openings of both jars so one is positioned on top of the other, this tool ensures the contents of the top bottle drain into the lower bottle. It has a built-in air flow tube to eliminate air pockets, and the 1-1/2" dia. opening fits on many ketchup containers.

Ketchup Dispensing

If you still need to dispense ketchup into single-serve containers, skip the expensive packets and do it yourself! Use the Tablecraft condiment dispenser pump and lid set to dispense one ounce of ketchup every time! And if you need containers, we are currently offering a great deal on 1 oz. dixie cups and lids!

If you are starting to reopen, Rapids carries 12 oz. ketchup squeeze bottles so you can have ketchup conveniently available at every table. They are easy to clean and refill.
