Do you need commercial casters for your business? Looking for 5 inch casters? How about 2 swivel casters, 3 swivel casters, 4 swivel casters, or 5 swivel casters? Or perhaps you are looking for a set of 4 casters?

What Are Commercial Casters?

Commercial casters are undriven compound wheels that are designed to be mounted to the bottom of a variety of equipment or “vehicles.” Commercial casters can be used in a wide range of applications. They can be used on shopping carts, office chairs, material-handling equipment, and the like. Heavy-duty and high-capacity commercial casters are often used in various industrial applications, such as in platform trucks, assemblies, tow lines, and kitchen utility carts/bus carts.

Types of Commercial Casters

Typically, there are three types of commercial casters available in the market today: rigid casters, heavy duty swivel casters, and casters with brakes.

Rigid casters are some of the most basic commercial casters and consists of a wheel mounted to a stationary fork. These types of commercial casters are not as flexible as other casters and tend to restrict motion of the vehicle in a straight line.

Heavy duty swivel casters, on the other hand, have an additional swivel joint above the fork that allows the fork to freely rotate about 360 degrees, therefore enabling the wheel to roll in any direction. This makes it possible to easily move the vehicle in any direction without changing its orientation.

Casters with brakes prevent the wheel from turning. This is typically achieved using a lever that presses a brake cam against the wheel. The caster, though, is still able to move around slightly in a small circle, rotating around an offset distance between the vertical shaft and the center of the locked wheel.
