5 Fun Facts for National Drink Beer Day

September 28th is National Drink Beer Day. In honor of this holiday, we've compiled a few fun facts about beer, accompanied of course by a few loosely-related products that can help boost your beer sales.

  1. In 1956, the U.S. tested the effects of atomic bombs on bottled beer. It was still safe to drink after, and many taste-testers (what a job, right?) reported that it even tasted good (Fact Slides)!

The lesson? Stockpiling beer is never a bad thing! To help you build up your beer stash, we recommend the Volition E-Series bottle coolers!

Available in widths of 60 and 70 inches, the Volition hinged glass door bottle coolers are designed to hold your beer between 34 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit. Not only that, but these units do a wonderful job of showcasing your merchandise - the bright LED lighting will draw the customer's eye and hold it there until an ice-cold brew is in his or her hand!

The casters provide extra flexibility (as well as extra security, as two of the casters lock), and some additional benefits include self-closing doors, auto defrosting, adjustable shelves, and a durable stainless steel interior and exterior.

  2. As a reward for winning the Nobel Prize in 1922, scientist Niels Bohr was given a perpetual supply of beer - piped directly into his house from the Carlsberg brewery (Mental Floss)!

Can you even imagine the cleaning process for those pipes? Thankfully, you don't have to! Nowadays, beer is transported to the faucet through easy-to-clean beer line, and all you need to clear your system of contaminants is our NEW beer line cleaning kit. It can remove yeast, mold, mineral deposits, beer stones, and other impurities from your beer dispenser system using a BLC cleaning solution concentrate.

And if you do have the luck (and skill) to win a perpetual beer supply for your home, the heavy-duty JS300 pump should help you keep those lines clean - one pass of this pump can move cleaning solution through up to 1600 ft of line!

  3. Monks in medieval Europe used to do "beer fasts" for Lent, during which they would give up all food and get all of their calories from beer (Fact Retriever).

While we unfortunately can't recommend the monks' so-called "liquid bread" diet, we do have a monk tap handle that can serve as the perfect segue for this interesting tidbit. The handle (featuring a monk standing on top of a barrel, joyously holding a beer stein) will also add a unique touch to your beer tower - it's hand-cast and hand-painted for superior quality!

If the monk design doesn't really fit the style of your pub or bar, there are a number of other beer faucet handles to choose from!

  4. The citizens of Lajitas, Texas elected a beer-drinking goat as mayor in the 1980s (Tons of Facts).

As we all know, goats only drink beer outside. We have some products that will make outdoor beer dispensing a breeze (I warned you some of these products would only be loosely related to the fun fact).

The Taprite pony pump is an affordable alternative to those who don't have room in their budget for an expensive keg tap. It's designed to fit an American-style, single-valve keg, and is lightweight and easy-to-clean.

You can also serve beer outside using a two-faucet coil cooler! Jockey boxes cool your beer as it travels from the keg to the faucet, which means you'll be serving a crisp drink to your customers every time!

  5. Fear of an empty glass is a legitimate phobia: Cenosillicaphobia (Mental Floss).

In conjunction with responsible alcohol-serving practices, our Volition E-Series beer dispensers can help you refill your customers' glasses as quickly as possible! The continuously-cooled draft tower design reduces foaming, and the temperature range (33 to 41 degrees Fahrenheit) allows you to keep your beer at the perfect temperature.

    You can choose from a one-tap kegerator, a 49"W two-tap dispenser, a 61"W two-tap dispenser, or a 73"W two-tap dispenser.
