When Life Gives You Lemons...

The Arnold Palmer got its current moniker from the golfer of the same name - it was his favorite drink, and the association between the two gradually spread until Arnold Palmer became the predominant name for an iced tea/lemonade combination.

While there are a number of ways to make this drink, the one we like best is the Scratch-Made Arnold Palmer Drink.
 

Ingredients

For the tea:

• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 gallon water
• 3 family-size tea bags, unsweetened
• 3 cups cold water

For the lemonade:

• 3-4 large lemons
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 3 cups cold water

Instructions

For the tea:

1. Measure out and pour the sugar into a large pitcher. 
2. Bring the water to boil in a large pan. Remove from heat, and place the tea bags in. Steep for 5 to 6 minutes.
3. Remove tea bags and pour tea into the pitcher
4. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
5. Add 2 to 3 cups of ice or water, depending on how diluted you want it.
6. Chill in refrigerator.

For the lemonade:

1. Firmly roll the lemons between your hand and the cutting board before cutting it in half.
2. Juice the lemons to make 1/2 a cup of juice.
3. Combine lemon juice, sugar and water in a large pitcher.
4. Stir.
5. Adjust sugar to taste, if needed.
6. Chill in refrigerator.

For the Arnold Palmer:

1. Add ice to a tall glass.
2. Fill 2/3 with sweet tea.
3. Fill the rest of the way with lemonade.
4. Stir.
5. Garnish with lemon wedge.
