Every cook needs a few easy Christmas Cookie recipes that help move that cookie production into overdrive.
These Painted Sugar Christmas Trees are easy and fun to make and just take minutes.
Ingredients for the Christmas Tree Cookie
Premade refrigerated sugar cookie roll
Pretzel sticks
Rainbow food sprinkles
Green sugar cooking glitter
1 tube white decorating frosting.
Ingredients for the Paint
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon water
Green food coloring gel
Directions For Making Cookie Paint:
Mix together egg yolk, water, and food coloring till you get the color you want.
Directions for Making the Cookie:
Slice the cookie roll into 1/2" rounds
Cut out a triangle from the round
Break pretzel sticks in half
Stick 1/2 pretzel stick in the base of the triangle to make the trunk of your tree
Place 1" apart on cookie sheet lined with parchment
Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, or until dough has spread
Pull out of oven and, using a pastry brush, paint your cookie with your cookie paint
Place back in oven and cook for an additional minute
Pull cookies out of oven and sprinkle with green sugar glitter, then sprinkle with rainbow sprinkles
When the cookies have cooled, decorate with white frosting so the trees look snow-capped
