The medium trash receptacle door extends the small model's functionality to a wider opening — 12-5/16" versus 9-11/16" — for counter-integrated trash systems that handle larger items or higher-volume disposal traffic. The additional 2-5/8" of width makes the difference in accessibility for larger food service waste: full meal trays, pizza boxes, large drink containers, and food containers that require a wider opening to dispose of without awkward angling.

At high-volume self-serve stations — cafeteria tray return areas, food hall condiment and waste stations, fast casual dining counters with heavy traffic — the wider door opening reduces the bottleneck that a narrow trash door creates during peak periods. A narrower door requires guests to orient and insert larger items carefully; a wider door allows a more natural, quick disposal motion that maintains flow during peak traffic.

The spring-loaded self-closing mechanism operates identically to the small model — sized to close against typical trash item resistance without requiring the guest to actively close the door. The spring force is calibrated for the wider door's greater panel width, maintaining the same responsive self-closing performance regardless of door size.

The same white trash symbol on black background provides immediate visual identification of the disposal point. The symbol is consistent across the small and medium door sizes, so a counter installation with multiple door sizes presents a visually consistent trash identification regardless of door width variation.

Black ABS plastic construction is appropriate for both door sizes. The medium model has the same construction quality as the small, with the width proportionally scaled to the larger cutout requirement. Both models install in the same flush-mount configuration; the medium simply requires a wider counter cutout.
