The Vollrath flatbed utility dolly with 6" pneumatic wheels is built for the same 350 lb transport capacity as the standard caster model, with pneumatic wheels that provide smooth rolling over uneven floors, door thresholds, and outdoor surfaces that hard casters handle poorly. The Vollrath flatbed utility dolly with 6" pneumatic wheels is designed for operations where loads need to move across surface conditions that standard hard casters don't handle well. Parking lots, sidewalks, ramp edges, expansion joint gaps, door thresholds, and rough kitchen floors all create rolling resistance or impact jarring with hard casters that slows transport and risks load stability. Pneumatic wheels absorb these surface irregularities, maintaining smooth, consistent rolling regardless of the surface condition.
At 6" diameter, the pneumatic wheels provide the ground clearance and surface contact area to roll over obstacles and surface transitions that would stop a smaller hard caster. This matters most in delivery and catering operations where loads regularly transition from kitchen to loading dock to exterior surfaces — the pneumatic wheel configuration handles that full range without the lifting and maneuvering required to navigate hard-caster dollies over surface transitions.
