What Is a Commercial Chopper?

A commercial chopper is used to chop vegetables into small cubes. Vegetables such as peppers, onions, tomatoes, and the like are easily chopped using a good-quality commercial vegetable chopper.

So what should you consider before purchasing a restaurant chopper? One major factor is the size of the vegetables you want to chop. Two is the overall dimension of the commercial vegetable chopper you are planning to purchase. You need to factor in the size of the chopped vegetables because a commercial vegetable chopper uses different sizes of blades that can determine what size the finished product will be. The overall dimension of the restaurant chopper comes into play in terms of how much space on your kitchen counter the unit will take up.

What are other considerations to keep in mind when purchasing a commercial chopper? First, the chopper blade of your commercial vegetable chopper is generally a grid where the openings determine the actual size of the intended pieces of chopped vegetables (the size ranges from one-fourth inch to one inch). And since the blade segments of most restaurant chopper units are relatively small, when they become dull overtime due to frequent use, they cannot actually be resharpened. When this happens, you have no choice but to purchase a replacement blade for your commercial chopper.

So how can you tell when the blade of your commercial vegetable chopper is not as sharp as it used to be? One tell-tale sign is that the product that comes through the blade of your chopper doesn't feel as firm as it's supposed to be and actually comes out mushy. This means that the dull blades of your restaurant chopper are smashing instead of chopping your vegetables. A dull blade also makes it difficult to operate the chopper.

What Is a Vegetable Wedger and Fruit Wedger?

A vegetable wedger and fruit wedger are both used to wedge fruits and vegetables. These tools are especially useful for food-service establishments that serve various fruits or vegetables like oranges, limes, lemons, and tomatoes in wedge form.

Why is a fruit wedger and vegetable wedger more convenient than using a regular knife? A fruit wedger and vegetable wedger makes wedging many times faster. Consider this: a fruit and vegetable wedger can potentially produce around a dozen wedges of any fruit or vegetable in just a few seconds compared to a knife, which can take several minutes.

What Is a Commercial Apple Corer?

A commercial apple corer is an industrial version of a regular apple corer. An apple corer is a hand-held device that helps remove the core and pips from an apple. This device may also be used for pears, quinces, or similar fruits.

Some commercial apple corer units are designed with a handle that features a circular cutting device at the end. When pushed through the apple, it removes the core, to the diameter of the circular cutting device. The core can then be removed from the commercial apple corer.

Another type of commercial apple corer is designed to be positioned on top of the apple and then pushed through. This both cores and slices the apple. Needless to say, a commercial apple corer is used when many apples are need to be cored, especially those used for preparing apple pie or apple cider/juice.
